Trees Planted

400

Originating from Biteereko subcounty, Tereza embarked on her journey as a Trees for Global Benefits (TGB) farmer in 2006. Reflecting on her early financial struggles, Tereza reveals that prior to joining the project, she had never experienced holding UGX 100,000 in her hands. However, the introduction of carbon payments marked a turning point in her life.

Constructing Dreams with Carbon Payments

Tereza’s joy is palpable as she shares the impact of the carbon payments on her life. The first installment enabled her to construct her initial house, a milestone that seemed out of reach before. Undeterred by challenges, the second payment became the foundation for a more permanent residence, built with the assistance of her children. Over time, with additional endeavors, she proudly erected an even larger house, attributing her success to being a TGB farmer.

A Sentimental Connection to Trees

Despite offers from others willing to purchase her trees for a considerable sum, Tereza staunchly refuses to part with them. Her trees hold a deep sentimental value, serving as a memorial to the journey that lifted her from adversity to her present state. Tereza emphasizes that the trees are not just a source of income but a narrative of her survival and progression.

Proud TGB Farmer and Wishes for Long-Term Success

Expressing immense pride in being a TGB farmer, Tereza’s gratitude resonates in her wish for the project’s enduring success. Her story stands as a testament to the transformative power of the Trees for Global Benefits initiative, showcasing how it has not only changed her circumstances but also become an integral part of her life’s narrative.
