Trees Planted

400

Lilian Bandi, from Bitereko Subcounty in Mitooma District, joined the Trees for Global Benefits (TGB) project in 2003 and planted 400 trees. Her journey started after attending a training workshop by ECOTRUST, which inspired her to take up tree planting.

As her trees grew, she began receiving carbon payments, providing a steady source of income. Later, when she needed extra money to support orphaned grandchildren left behind by her late son, she harvested some of the trees and sold timber, earning over UGX 1 million.

Lilian also joined a business group involved in beekeeping, another initiative supported by ECOTRUST. With help from the children in her care, who made handmade beehives, she now produces and sells honey, adding to her income.

She is grateful to ECOTRUST for the support, saying the TGB project has helped her household and ensured the children’s wellbeing.

Lilian encourages others to join the project, saying tree planting has brought real change to her life and can do the same for others.
