The 2023 ECOTRUST Annual Stakeholders event celebrated 20 years of the Trees for Global Benefits Programme, showcasing its achievements, featuring interactive exhibitions, honoring pioneer farmers, and emphasizing the importance of nature-based solutions and community involvement in climate adaptation efforts.
On September 15th, 2023, the ECOTRUST Secretariat and Board of Trustees were warmly welcomed at Rukoki Primary School in Rukoki sub-county during their field visit to ECOTRUST Project sites in Kasese district. This heartwarming event underscored the deep connections between ECOTRUST, Trees for Global Benefit (TGB) farmers, and the local communities. The day began with vibrant musical performances and entertaining band acts, setting the stage for a day of celebration, gratitude, and collaboration.
On the morning of September 15th, 2023, the ECOTRUST Secretariat and Board of Trustees embarked on a transformative field visit to Kasese district. Their journey began at the headquarters of the Mubuku Integrated Farmers Association (MIFA), the largest Farmer Association and Savings and Credit Association (SACCO) in the district. This visit not only marked a celebration of achievement but also highlighted the profound impact of sustainable partnerships on local communities.
This year’s event, to be held under the theme “Resilience in the face of Increasing Crisis”, will highlight the strategic, collaborative, and innovative conservation partnerships that ECOTRUST has catalyzed to build community resilience to climate change, extreme weather events, and additional stressors in light of the sudden and gradual adverse effects of environmental degradation and climate change processes.

On October 1, 2022, the Restore Africa program will be launched in Uganda to enable 350,000 farming households to be more climate resilient. Restore Africa will work in 36 districts to improve degraded farms in Southwestern Uganda, Karamoja and Mount Elgon regions.
