He learned that the project encouraged group participation, especially with women. Working with Beatrice Ahimbisibwe, the Chairperson of the Bitereko Subcounty women’s group, they wrote a proposal for the group’s involvement in the project.

ECOTRUST Staff Complete Gender Action Learning System Methodology Phase 3 Training

ECOTRUST staff and field teams completed the GALS training, a community-led empowerment methodology for gender equality. Facilitated by experts from OXFAM, CEFORD, Poro Poro, Wadelai and ELCs, the 5-day training equipped 30 participants to become certified GALS trainers. The aim is to create gender-equitable and climate-smart landscapes, promoting positive change in communities. GALS is now an integral part of ECOTRUST’s sustainable development approach, empowering staff to champion equality and inclusion.
